My friends, I am proud to present to you our VERY FIRST QUILT PATTERN!! The MAV mom and I give you... Ol' Sparky! A quilty schematic by Chris & Lisa Hanson.
Ol’ Sparky is yet another homage to the man who inspired it all. My grandpa John “Jack”, who first got me into woodworking, also had a penchant for lighting up the sky every July 4th with celebratory pyrotechnics. I remember him backing his massive conversion van down our driveway, stepping out and opening up the back doors to reveal a treasure trove of bottle rockets, roman candles, black cats and other assorted shenanigans. After such a dramatic reveal, he would only light off one or two bottle rockets himself, and then giggle his way back to the porch, sit back and watch the uncles and grandkids have at the rest! Grandfatherhood at its absolute finest.
Just as these firework blocks ignite some of my fondest childhood memories, I hope they spark your own memories with the ones you love the most.
